Lakeland middle school recognized by state group for design excellence
The new Lakeland Middle Preparatory School was recognized Saturday night as the “School of the Year,” by the Tennessee School Board Association.
The award is based on excellence in architectural design and was presented Saturday night during the TSBA annual convention at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.
The school opened in August, serving grades 5-8.
Renaissance Group and A2H, both based in Lakeland, worked together on the architectural design of the school. Chris Woods Construction was general contractor for the school.
In addition to the architectural firms, the Lakeland Board of Education and Superintendent Ted Horrell also were recognized.
“Our goal was to build a school on time and under budget that reflected the aesthetics and quality that our community values,” Kevin Floyd, the school board chairman, said in a prepared release
