Permit filed for new Meritan HQ in the Edge District
A $2.4 million permit was submitted for “renovations” for Meritan Inc.’s new headquarters.
The nonprofit health agency will be relocating from their current space at 4700 Poplar Ave. to a building at 345 Adams Avenue.
“Meritan’s new headquarters in Downtown’s Edge District will allow Meritan to be closer to our community partners as well as the people we serve,” said Meritan president and CEO Melanie A. Keller. “The additional space we will have will allow Meritan’s Senior Employment Program to have a dedicated training area as well as the technology we need to best meet our training needs. The building also will be strategically designed, allowing Meritan’s operations to focus on critical services instead of building costs.”
The agency provides skilled home health, medical and mental health support to children in foster care, direct care for developmental disabilities and on-the-job training for seniors through its nonprofit and government partners.
Keller said that there will be a community training room to be used by nonprofit partners and that the organization will soon begin a citywide capital campaign to help fund the building, which has an estimated completion date of September 2017.
The contractor listed on the permit is Chris Woods Construction Co. Inc.
