Olympus ready to build 280-job service center in Bartlett

Olympus Surgical Technologies America marked the start of construction on its $12 million Bartlett distribution center with a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday.
The medical device maker expects to hire 280 for the East Coast National Service Center, which is scheduled to open next summer.
Representatives of general contractor Chris Woods Construction and architect Renaissance Group were on hand for the event along with Nacho Abia, president of Olympus Surgical Technologies.
Olympus will put up facility next to its existing building. Plans call for adding about 75,000-square-feet of manufacturing and 25,000-square-feet of office space. The current facility, which employs 200, has about 66,000-square-feet of manufacturing and 15,000-square-feet of office space.
